Our History
Cogent Health is a privately held Limited Liability Corporation founded in 2002 by Brian J. Anderson and Larry Lofgreen. Cogent Health employs 70 people and operates Auto Rx, LC and CompToday, LC. Both companies specialize in the processing of Property and Casualty prescription claims. As the names indicate, Auto Rx LC specializes in those prescriptions related to an automobile accident and CompToday, LC specializes in those prescriptions related to workers compensation.
Cogent’s history actually dates back to 1998 when Mr. Anderson founded Working Rx, L.C. in response to retail pharmacies’ needs to efficiently process workers compensation prescriptions while simultaneously reducing their financial risk. Working Rx was the first to offer a cardless workers' compensation program that allowed pharmacies to adjudicate prescriptions on-line, dispense a 30 day supply, and receive guaranteed payment. National and regional pharmacy chains responded positively to this program and Working Rx grew rapidly over the next several years.
In July 2002, Mr. Anderson sold Working Rx to MediFax EDI. Shortly after the sale of Working Rx to MediFax, the senior management of Working Rx left and formed Cogent Health and began focusing on a pharmacy delivery system for auto accident claims which resulted in the formation of Auto Rx, LC.
Working within the restrictions of their non-compete as a result of the sale, Cogent Health also developed CompToday, a small “boutique” work comp PBM that specializes in the unique processing and bill review needs of their clients. CompToday’s clients include, municipalities, TPAs, insurance carriers and a State Fund.
